The Tombs of the Saadians
The Saadian tombs of Marrakech date from the time of the great Sultan Ahmed Al-Mansour Saadi (1578-1603). These tombs were only discovered around 1917, then restored by the Fine Arts department. They are richly decorated.
The mausoleum houses the bodies of around sixty Saadians, including Al-Mansour, his successors and his family. The building is made up of three rooms. The most prestigious mausoleum is the Hall of Twelve Columns. This room houses the tomb of Sultan son Ahmed El Mansour. Its dome is made of crafted cedar wood, and the stuccowork is finely worked, the tombs there are made of Carrara marble from Italy. This mausoleum constitutes a very fine example of Hispano-Moorish decorative art.
The Bahia Palace
The Bahia Palace, (Bahia: the beautiful, the brilliant) is a former 19th century palace of eight hectares in Moorish / Islamic style. Currently a museum, it is one of the masterpieces of Moroccan architecture and Islamic art, one of the major monuments of the country's cultural heritage, and one of the main places of tourism in Morocco.
Between 1866 and 1867 Si Moussa, powerful and extremely wealthy Grand Vizier (1st Minister) of Sultan Hassan 1st of Morocco (1836-1894) had the northern part of this vast palace of 8000 m² built, in the form of a vast Riad (the most large, the most imposing, and the most sumptuous palace in Morocco of its time) to the south-east of the medina of Marrakech and its historic center near the Jemaa El-Fna square, and the El Badi Palace.
The Menara Pavilion
The Menara is a vast garden planted with olive trees developed during the Almoahades dynasty. At the heart of this garden, a large pond at the foot of a pavilion serves as a water reservoir to irrigate the crops. It is a very peaceful place, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is therefore a privileged place for walks.
The basin is supplied with water thanks to a hydraulic system more than 700 years old, which transports water from the mountains located approximately 30 km from the city of Marrakech. This basin allows the irrigation of the olive grove.
The Koutoubia Mosque
The Koutoubia Mosque or (Librarians’ Mosque), its name comes from the fact that it was located in the manuscript merchants’ souk. it is a religious building built in the 12th century in Marrakech. Its architecture and ascetic decor reflect the art of the Almohad dynasty.
It was begun under the Berber Almoravid dynasty in 1120, but was extensively remodeled from 1162 under the Almohad caliph Abu Yusuf Yaâqub Al-Mansour, and became one of the most characteristic buildings of this style.
it is an Arab plan comprising a large courtyard surrounded by a portico and a columned prayer room. The naves are perpendicular to the Qibla wall (direction of Mecca), the central one being wider, and the span which runs along the Qibla wall is also magnified, the minaret, 77 m high, is of square section, according to the tradition of the Muslim West.
Its 17 naves, supported by numerous white pillars, house one of the largest prayer rooms in the Muslim West (90 × 60 m) which can accommodate up to twenty thousand worshippers. The building was restored in the spirit of the original monument in 1990.
The Majorelle Garden
A tourist botanical garden with around 300 species on almost one hectare, an Art Deco villa labeled Maisons des Illustres since 2011, and a museum of the History of the Berbers.
The garden is named after its founder, the French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962), who created it in 1931, taking inspiration from the oases, Islamic garden and Spanish-Hispano-Moorish garden. Purchased by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in 1980, it today belongs to the Pierre Bergé Foundation.
The Yves Saint Laurent garden and museum are among the highlights of tourism in Marrakech with nearly 600,000 annual visitors.
The Ben Youssef Madrasa
A jewel of Moorish architecture, founded by Abu Al-Hasan, Marinid sultan. The current structure of this Koranic school was built around 1570 by the Saadians and restored in 1950.
It is the work of the Saadian Sultan Abdallah El-Ghalib who completed its construction in 1565.
The name Ben Youssef comes from the Almoravid sultan Ali Ben Youssef.
The Madrasa was for more than 4 centuries a welcome home for students thirsty for knowledge in various sciences, particularly in theology. It had 132 rooms intended for students not from Marrakech and could accommodate up to 900 students. Opposite the entrance door, on the other side of the rectangular pool, opens the prayer room made up of three naves delimited by marble pillars supporting arches with facades chiseled with ornamental motifs. The central nave opens onto a small semi-circular room whose opening is sumptuously decorated with floral and geometric motifs.

Jamaa El Fna Square

I am 6 feet tall and 220 lbs. This shirt fit me perfectly in the chest and shoulders. My only complaint is that it is so long! I like to wear polo shirts untucked. This shirt goes completely past my rear end. If I wore it with ordinary shorts, you probably wouldnt be able to see the shorts at all – completely hidden by the shirt. It needs to be 4 to 5 inches shorter in terms of length to suit me. I have many RL polo shirts, and this one is by far the longest. I dont understand why.

The shirt was not the fabric I believed it to be. It says Classic Fit but was made like the older versions, not the soft cotton like my others. I don’t understand how the labels are the same but a completely different shirt. Oh well, stuck with it now.
